Different Types of Coffee Drinks
Americano
An Americano is a type of coffee made by mixing espresso with hot water. It usually contains one or two shots of espresso, with hot water added to make the drink less concentrated. An Americano has a similar taste to regular black coffee, but it has a richer and stronger espresso flavour. It is less intense than drinking espresso on its own. The main difference between an Americano and regular black coffee is how they are made: an Americano uses espresso and hot water, while black coffee is usually made by brewing ground coffee directly with hot water.
Latte
A latte is a popular coffee drink made using espresso, steamed milk, and a small amount of milk foam. It usually contains one or two shots of espresso, with plenty of warm, steamed milk added to create a smooth and creamy texture. The milk helps to soften the strong flavour of the espresso, giving the latte a mild, rich and slightly sweet taste. A small layer of foam is usually added to the top, which gives the drink a light and smooth finish. Lattes can also be made with different types of milk, such as oat, almond or soy milk, and can be flavoured with syrups like vanilla or caramel.
Cappuccino
A cappuccino is a classic Italian coffee made with espresso, steamed milk, and a thick layer of milk foam. It is usually made with one or two shots of espresso, followed by a smaller amount of steamed milk and a generous layer of foamy milk on top. Compared with a latte, a cappuccino has more foam and a stronger coffee flavour, while still being smooth and creamy. The thick foam gives it a light, airy texture, and it is sometimes finished with a sprinkle of cocoa powder or cinnamon. Cappuccinos are often enjoyed in the morning and are a popular choice for people who like a stronger coffee taste with a creamy finish.
Flat White
A flat white is a coffee made with espresso and steamed milk, but it has less milk and much less foam than a latte. It is usually made with a double shot of espresso and a thin layer of finely textured, steamed milk called microfoam. This gives the drink a smooth and velvety texture while keeping the flavour of the espresso noticeable. Compared with a latte, a flat white is generally smaller, stronger and creamier, with a more balanced coffee-to-milk taste. It is a good choice for someone who wants the smoothness of milk without the coffee flavour being too diluted.
